Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

The VITA program provides free income tax return preparation at Rufty-Holmes Senior Center to the public by appointment only.  You do not have to be a senior.  No businesses, only individuals.

Our site prepares federal and state income tax returns and provides free electronic filing.

The Appointment Reservation Line is NOT currently open.  It will open in late January or February.  Stay tuned to our monthly Program Guide for the latest information. 

 

WHEN the Appointment Reservation Line does open please follow these guidelines.

 

Please do not leave messages on both lines.  

You will be asked to provide your name, phone number and E-mail (if you have one). 

Speak slowly and spell your name.

 

In person Tax Filing Appointments:

  • Rufty Holmes Senior Center:        Monday evenings 3 PM – 6 PM

                                                               Wednesdays 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM

                                                               Saturdays 8:30 AM - 11 AM

 

  • RCCC: 399 Biotechnology Lane, Kannapolis, NC  28081:  Thursdays  3 - 6 PM

 

IMPORTANT:  You will need to pick up a tax preparation packet from the Senior Center (RHSC) and have it filled out completely prior to your tax filing appointment.  You can also download the contents here:

Spanish interpreters available. Must request when making appointment.​
