Objective: Enhance the Center’s role as a focal point for aging
resources in
Goal: Continue strong partnership with Rowan County Senior Services Department in providing information &
assistance to local older adults
Goal: Support the establishment and operation of an “Aging & Disability Resource Connection”
Goal: Provide additional training opportunities for those working in the field of aging services.
Goal: Establish the capability to serve effectively in disaster relief situations involving older adults.
Objective: Expand
opportunities for local older adults to be involved with health & wellness
programs.
Goal: Construct and furnish new fitness annex
Goal: Staff and program an expanded schedule of fitness classes
Goal: Target older adults with chronic health conditions
Goal: Utilize “best
practices” and research-based outcome measures that demonstrate results
Objective: Provide expanded opportunities for lifelong
learning.
Goal: Offer skill development and employment re-training programs for local older adults
Goal: Expand program applications for enhancing and maintaining cognitive abilities

and community life
Goal: Promote and assist with older adult volunteer involvement in community organizations and projects
Goal: Develop retiree “mission teams” to address community projects and needs
Goal: Promote representation of older adults on local, regional, and state Boards & Commissions.

Objective: Guide the development of a more “senior
friendly community.”
Goal: Educate and lead community awareness and planning for the needs of an emerging “baby boomer” generation.
Goal: Emphasize the contributions of older adults in developing and maintaining the community’s quality of life.
Goal: Support the Rowan County Council on Aging in its efforts to recognize individuals, businesses and organizations that effectively serve older adults; in its efforts to educate the community about “senior friendly” issues; and in its efforts to advocate for older adult needs.
